Check the Fit First
Most problems with this bar are fit problems that a two-minute check catches. Run through these before you open the hardware bag.
Falcon is made for a bare roof: no rails and no factory fixed points. The steel clamps grip inside the door opening. If your car has raised rails, flush rails or fixed points, this is not the right bar: contact us before installing and we'll point you to the one that fits.
Mounts and rubber bases must sit on the painted metal roof only, never on glass (panoramic roof, sunroof glass, or a glass edge). If glass covers the area above the doors where the mounts sit, this rack cannot be installed there.
The box has 4 short and 4 long steel clamps. Measure the roof edge, from the top of the roof down to where the door frame ends. Thicker than 3 in (7.5 cm) → use the long clamps at that end; 3 in or less → short clamps. Almost all sedans use the short clamps.
If the door jamb is not level with the roof (a height step), bridge it: half the base on the higher surface, half on the lower; a small gap on the lower side is normal. Fully on the higher surface is also fine. Avoid fully on the lower side: the base can catch and lift as you tighten.

165 lbs (75 kg) dynamic load. Never exceed this or your vehicle's own roof limit, whichever is lower.
Shake every bar before each drive. Any movement means stop, re-seat, and re-tighten.
Bow & stern tie-downs to the vehicle frame are required. Straps to the crossbars alone aren't enough.

My car has no rails or fixed points. Will Falcon fit?+
Yes. Falcon is made for bare roofs. The sheet-metal clamps grip inside the door opening, so no rails or factory points are needed. Fit still needs to be confirmed for your vehicle; check compatibility on erkulautousa.com.
When do I use the long clamps instead of the short ones?+
Use the 4 long clamps wherever your roofline is thicker than usual (often the front or rear), and the 4 short clamps on the remaining corners.
Why tighten the upper screw before the lower one?+
The upper screws seat the bar in position. If you tighten the lower clamp screw first, the bar will not settle correctly. Always finish the upper screws first.
Do I have to cut the rubber strip?+
Yes. Cut it to length and fill every groove with no empty space. Gaps in the groove increase wind noise. Keep offcuts in case you need to adjust.
